KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: Police officers from the Sulaibikhat Police Station have referred a fraud case to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after an unknown individual deceived an elderly woman under the pretext of providing her with a domestic worker.
According to a security source, the victim (a woman born in 1971) filed a complaint stating that she had come across an online advertisement on social media promoting the recruitment of domestic workers. Interested in hiring a maid, she contacted the advertiser through the phone number listed in the post. After discussing details such as the nationality and specifications of the domestic worker, the woman transferred KD 900 to the man’s account as agreed.
However, after receiving the payment, the suspect stopped responding to her calls, blocked her number, and switched off his phone. The victim never received the domestic worker, nor did she get her money back. Realizing that she had been scammed, she filed a report with the Northwest Sulaibikhat Police Station, prompting authorities to open a case of fraud and impersonation. The CID has launched an investigation to trace and arrest the perpetrator, who remains unidentified.
