KUWAIT CITY, March 17: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry took action against 8 butcher shops located in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, with legal procedures underway. This move follows a surprise inspection campaign aimed at ensuring compliance with regulations governing meat suppliers, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The Ministry clarified that the impromptu inspections targeted several meat shops to assess their adherence to regulatory standards set by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to monitoring market activities, particularly during periods of high demand like the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, to safeguard consumer rights and ensure the availability of goods. As a result of the inspection campaign, 8 violations were identified. These included instances of commercial fraud related to the country of origin, reports of artificially inflated prices, and non-cooperation with Ministry inspectors by certain commercial establishments. The Ministry of Interior was notified of these violations, highlighting the seriousness of obstructing regulatory efforts. Emphasizing its dedication to enforcing consumer protection laws, the Ministry pledged to intensify inspection efforts to combat such practices. Violators will be referred to the appropriate authorities for necessary action to uphold consumer rights.
