KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: Abdel-Moneim, famously known as Kahraba, is on the verge of joining Qadsia for the upcoming season. Sources say both parties have agreed on most contract terms, making his arrival at the Yellow Castle a matter of time.
Kahraba reportedly signed a one-season deal worth approximately $1 million, coming from Libyan side Al-Ittihad, where he has played since January.
Qadsia stirred excitement on social media after posting a teaser video on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, hinting at Kahraba’s imminent arrival. The clip featured lightning striking amidst electric poles — a symbolic nod to the player’s nickname — prompting fans to speculate that the deal could be finalized in the coming hours or days.
Kahraba has enjoyed a decorated career, playing for top Egyptian clubs Al Ahly and Zamalek, as well as Enppi, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad, Libyan Al-Ittihad, Turkey’s Hatayspor, and Swiss Grasshoppers. He has also represented Egypt at all levels, from youth teams to the senior national team.
During his time at Al-Ittihad, Kahraba appeared in 18 matches, scoring six goals and providing four assists. His contract, initially renewed for the new season, was mutually terminated last week.
Qadsia currently features Libyan Mohamed Soula, Algerian Sofiane Bouchar, and Moroccan Mehdi Rahma. Reports linked the club to Libyan international Hamdou El Houni, though he has not yet joined the team in Turkey, as his season with Al Ahly Tripoli recently concluded. Sources indicate El Houni will join Qadsia after representing Libya in the international break from September 1 to 9.
Meanwhile, Rahma appears close to leaving Qadsia following tensions with the administrative staff during the Turkey camp. The Moroccan player has trained alone recently, signaling that the club may not wish to retain him, although discussions remain over the method of contract termination.
Qadsia has also been reviewing potential foreign signings, including Algerians Osama Chita and Andy Delort.
