Golden Jubilee of October 1973 victories

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: On the anniversary of the Great Arab Victory Day, a ceremony was organized by the military office of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt to mark the golden jubilee of the October 1973 victories. Several officials and members of Kuwaiti society were among the guests at the event. Leading the guests were the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Mubarak Al-Sabah, Deputy Commander of Kuwait Air Force Major General Bandar Al-Muzain, Deputy Commander of the Naval Force Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Eid, several members of the ruling family, diplomats, businesspersons, and media figures.

The ceremony began with the Kuwaiti and Egyptian national anthems, followed by a speech delivered by the military attaché Staff Brigadier General Mohamed Rajab, in which he said, “The October victory will remain immortal in the history of Egypt and the Arab nation. That glorious war demonstrated the authentic nature of the Arab nation and the role of the wise and rational leadership in various Arab countries.” He expressed pride and appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its generous hospitality and its distinguished and continuing role in supporting Egypt to achieve the common interests of the two countries.

Meanwhile, the chief guest of the ceremony Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mubarak conveyed the congratulations of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad on this occasion. He said, “The October victory will remain a source of pride for every Arab in the Arab world, and evidence that Arab solidarity is a reality. The Egyptian soldier fought side by side with his Arab brother in the battles in defense of the land, values, and people. Kuwait did not waver even for a moment in its support of Egypt in its war against the Zionist entity. It did not hesitate to offer whatever capabilities it had for that clear victory, so it pushed its sons to the battlefield represented by the Yarmouk Brigade, which represented a third of its army since the War of Attrition and even great victory.”

Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mubarak concluded by praying for Palestine that Allah may protect it from all evil and harm as it defends its legitimate rights. In turn, the Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Osama Shaltut praised “the glorious October victory, which restored our pride and dignity, and revealed to the world our strength when united. Kuwait enjoyed precious participation with its army in the epic of the great victory on the northern and southern fronts through the Jahra Brigade in Syria and the Yarmouk Brigade in Egypt.

The Kuwaiti forces performed well and were praised by everyone after they participated shoulder-to-shoulder with their brothers, which confirms the importance of Arab solidarity. Egypt did not forget the Kuwaiti position. Hence, when the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait occurred, it rose up to declare its firm political, military, and popular position to stand with the Kuwaiti right. The blood of the Egyptians was shed on the land of Kuwait, so that we could confirm once again, with Arab blood, that we are brothers and sisters.”
