Egypt marks 52nd ‘October War’ victory anniversary

Kuwaiti and Egyptian leaders praise heroism, brotherly solidarity and deep bilateral ties

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 9: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Al- Sabah asserted that the Oct 6, 1973 War victories are considered a glorious page in the history of the Arab nation, as it embodies the unity of the Arab position and the importance of brotherly solidarity in facing challenges. Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Al-Sabah made the statement at the celebration organized by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Kuwait on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the October War victories, with a number of representatives of diplomatic missions in attendance.

He explained that this precious occasion commemorates the victory of the valiant Egyptian Army, and the epic cooperation and solidarity achieved by the sons of the Arab nation, indicating that the sacrifice and immortal heroism of the Army contributed to strengthening Arab national security and protecting its resources.

He said the historic fraternal relations between Kuwait and Egypt were established by two wise leaderships and have deepened over decades of cooperation in various fields, particularly in the fields of defense and security. He emphasized that the close cooperation that unites the two countries reflects a shared destiny and a common stance on upholding justice and supporting regional stability. Meanwhile, Egyptian Military Attaché Colonel Mustafa Al-Dallal said the State of Kuwait played a prominent and honorable role in this historic epic, providing money, effort, ammunition and lives. “Its sons participated alongside their Egyptian brothers in the battle, mixing the blood of Kuwaiti and Egyptian martyrs on the pure land of Sinai,” he stressed.

Al-Dallal confirmed that Kuwait offered the largest number of martyrs among the Arab armies participating in the War of Attrition and the October War, and their graves in Egypt remain a witness to their heroism and glory. He added that the 52nd anniversary of the victory reflects the greatness of the Egyptian people and their ability to have a massive military accomplishment despite the challenges, stressing that this victory remains a symbol of pride, the restoration of land and dignity.

Bishop of the Egyptian Coptic Church in Kuwait Father Bigol Anba Bishoy expressed his pride and honor in participating in this immortal national occasion, stressing that the October victory is a shared source of pride for Egypt and Kuwait. He added “I say to Egypt: Live and celebrate, always in joy and victories. Despite the passage of 52 years, the October victories remain renewed as they were yesterday, because they are a symbol of pride and unity. On this anniversary, we recall the mingling of Kuwaiti blood with Egyptian blood, just as Egyptian blood was once mingled with Kuwaiti blood.” He praised the broad participation of Kuwaitis in the celebration, saying, “I am very impressed and happy over the remarkable interaction I witnessed among Kuwaitis.

This celebration is not just for Egypt, but for both countries, because they are one nation and one spirit.” He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the commemoration, which manifests the strength of fraternal and historic ties between the Egyptian and Kuwaiti peoples. The ceremony featured artistic and patriotic performances that expressed the spirit of victory and the depth of the historic relations between Kuwait and Egypt, amid a festive atmosphere that evoked feelings of pride and honor in the two brotherly peoples and countries.
