Egypt cruises into FIFA Arab Cup quarter finals

DOHA, Dec 4: Egypt’s national soccer team have qualified for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup quarter-finals after defeating Sudan 5-0 on Saturday, as part of the second round of Group D competition. Egypt’s Ahmad Sayed, Mahmoud Hamdi, Hussein Faisal and Mohammad Sherif scored in the 13th, 31st, 57th and 80th minutes respectively. By this win, Egypt booked a berth at the quarterfinals competition and will meet Algeria’s team which have six points next Tuesday. Lebanon will meet Sudan in the same Group on Tuesday.

Earlier Algerian National team defeated Lebanese counterpart by 2-0 in second round of Group D of the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 in Doha. Scoring the first goal of the match, held at Al-Janoub stadium, was Yacine Brahimi at minute 69 with a penalty kick, and Tayeb Meziani at minute 90 scored the second goal. The win put the Algerian team at the forefront of the group with six points.(KUNA)
