KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: “The decision to cancel the metro project has yet not been officially taken. However, the results reached by the Partnership Projects Authority (PPA) after studying the economic feasibility of the project, confirm that its implementation is not economically feasible currently at least”, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources from the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) as saying. They said, “It is assumed that recent studies on the feasibility of the project, contrary to the previous studies submitted to PPA, were carried out to ascertain the extent to which Kuwait needs to implement this project at the present time or if its implementation can be postponed.

The project has been suspended in PPA since 2015 until a decision is issued to assign PART to conduct necessary research and study its implementation. There are projects whose implementation is currently a priority, compared to the metro project”. The sources said they are expecting PART to issue its decision regarding the project soon, amid expectations that it would be canceled.
