KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Al-Duwaihi Mubarak Al-Duwaihi, has sentenced an Egyptian expatriate anesthesiologist employed at a government hospital to seven years in prison with hard labor, followed by deportation after serving the sentence.
The doctor was convicted of sexually harassing a female patient while she was unconscious. The court’s decision was based on multiple pieces of evidence, including the victim's complaint, witness testimonies, findings from the criminal investigation, and the accused’s own confession. The court convicted him of harassing a patient while she was asleep under anesthesia. Case details indicate that the doctor took advantage of the patient’s condition in the operating room and harassed her. He contacted her by phone after she left the hospital, flirting with her and asking her to contact him if she needed painkillers. The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with committing an indecent act by exploiting his profession. His conviction was based on the victim’s complaint, witness statements, detective investigations, and his confession during interrogation.
The court further ruled that, as a public employee, the accused would be dismissed from his position.
