Divorced woman, boyfriend queried in torture of her son

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4: In compliance with the instructions of General Criminal Investigation Department Director Brigadier Mohammad Al-Sharhan, security officers have summoned for questioning a divorced Kuwaiti woman, who along with her Bedoun boyfriend, allegedly tortured her six-year-old son, reports Al-Anba daily.

When asked about the serious injuries of the boy who is now confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Jahra Hospital, the woman told investigators that the child fell from the stairs. However, when the investigators showed her the medical report about the old and new wounds of the child, she admitted that her Bedoun boyfriend assaulted and tortured her son causing injuries in different parts of his body.

According to the woman, her son annoyed her Bedoun boyfriend whom she had alcoholic drinks with when he visited her at home. This may have prompted the boyfriend to beat the child until the latter lost consciousness. She took the child to a private hospital in Jahra but they did not accept him.

She went on to say that she took the child to Jahra Hospital as per the request of her boyfriend in order to avoid any confrontation with him. Asked why she remained silent over the violent act of her boyfriend, the woman said the boyfriend threatened to post her video clips to disgrace her.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution ordered detention of the woman for 10 days and arrest of the Bedoun. A team from the Sulaibikhat Investigation Department arrested the Bedoun from his house and questioned him on the allegations of the woman. Initially, he denied the allegations but he later admitted to the crime.
