CSC plans to ‘replace’ expat science teachers – MoH to sack foreigners

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: The head of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Eng Ahmad Al- Jassar is working on a plan to replace expatriate teachers for the CSC decision to succeed, reports Al-Anba daily quoting reliable sources.

The sources added the plan is to increase the number of Kuwaiti teachers in scientific specialties in particular, not less than 75 percent of the total number needed by the government schools. The same sources said attracting Kuwaitis into specializations which the Ministry of Education still need is a priority of the Civil Service Commission.

The sources pointed out, the CSC is studying the basics to achieve this goal with the relevant authorities such as the university and the scholarships management of the Ministry of Higher Education.

In response to a question about the possibility of implementing some of the perceptions presented to the CSC such as more financial and moral support for students of scientific disciplines, the sources replied that all the proposals submitted are subject to study.

The sources added it is very likely that some of the proposals will be approved most importantly the financial support to prepare the student scientifically to join scientific disciplines and then provide attractive environment for work after graduation in the education sector.

The sources pointed out in some disciplines the rate of training teachers has reached 100 per cent. The sources stressed achieving this goal requires non-traditional solutions proposed by Jassar to solve the employment crisis relatively by appointing 5,847 people in a month, and waiting for the announcement of another batch on Sunday, which will not be less than 2,500 Kuwaitis who hold the Bachelor’s degree in various disciplines, holders of diplomas and those who have passed the postsecondary school training courses.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health plans to terminate the contracts of 15 expatriate accountants and other employees for their alleged involvement in corruption and waste of public money, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The ministry has also issued a decision to terminate the contracts of four expatriates from various sectors, one of them a female employee. According to knowledgeable ministry sources Minister of Health Jamal Al-Harbi is currently re-screening vital suspicious sectors. He noted some of those who have been terminated were from technical sector and reportedly made about KD 120,000 in rewards and privileges in just one year.

The sources pointed out the next few days will see the dismissal of a number of others. The ministry has also demanded that those who have been dismissed are asked to bring ‘clearance’ certificates from banks, ministries of services, electricity and housing. Their residence will also be cancelled from the date of termination under the laws of the Ministry of Interior so that they will not be appointed in any government or private sector after termination of the contract.
