Crown Prince’s UNGA participation highlights Kuwait’s diplomatic prestige and global role: Foreign Minister
Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah arrives in New York for the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20:  The participation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s representative, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly is a powerful reflection of Kuwait’s prestigious international standing and enduring commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, affirmed Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya.

Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday, Al-Yahya stated that the State of Kuwait views this landmark occasion as a vital opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to the values enshrined in the UN Charter, particularly those promoting peace, security, development, and human rights.

Al-Yahya highlighted Kuwait’s long-standing and active role in the international community, underpinned by decades of humanitarian and relief work, as well as mediation and conflict resolution efforts. These contributions, he said, reflect a deeply rooted national policy that has earned Kuwait the trust of both regional and global partners.

“The participation of His Highness the Crown Prince in this high-level UN meeting sends a clear and strong message of Kuwait’s unwavering dedication to multilateralism and to bolstering international cooperation to confront pressing global challenges such as climate change, armed conflicts, and sustainable development,” Al-Yahya emphasized.

The Foreign Minister also stressed that Kuwait will remain steadfast in supporting any initiative that contributes to the realization of global peace, stability, and security.

Reflecting on the historic significance of the event, Al-Yahya noted that the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations rekindles the spirit of international solidarity first witnessed in San Francisco in 1945. He added that this milestone should serve as a moment for all member states to renew their collective pledge toward building a more just, secure, and prosperous future for all.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, arrived Friday evening at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City, heading Kuwait’s delegation to the High-Level Week of the UNGA80. His Highness is accompanied by a high-ranking official delegation, including Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and senior government officials.

United Nations General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock had earlier outlined that this year’s High-Level Week will focus on advancing the "UN80" initiative, aimed at strengthening the global system to ensure it remains effective and capable of fulfilling its founding promises.

Baerbock noted that the week will include several pivotal events: the high-level meeting commemorating the UN’s 80th anniversary, a major international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question and the two-state solution, and a high-level meeting marking the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.
