Crackdown on violators: 13 domestic workers’ office suspended for 6 months

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: In the ongoing implementation of the ministerial decision regulating domestic worker recruitment fees and the joint commitment to utilizing “K-Net” devices for fee collections, the “Tripartite Committee” has taken significant actions on the second day. Comprising the Ministry of Interior, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the Ministry of Commerce, the committee announced the suspension of 13 offices for six months due to violations of domestic workers’ laws and decisions outlined by the Ministry of Commerce.

Conducting thorough inspection tours across various governorates, the committee uncovered violations by four offices involved in illegal contracts and two instances of rehiring “recovered” workers. Furthermore, six offices lacking K-Net devices were arrested, leading to the enforcement of necessary legal measures, including halting operations and referral to investigation authorities. Additionally, one office faced closure for non-compliance with the newly established pricing regulations.

The committee strongly urged labor recruitment office owners to strictly adhere to the law, relevant ministerial decisions, and circulars to avoid legal consequences. Emphasizing their commitment to continued vigilance, the committee highlighted the daily inspection tours aimed at detecting and penalizing violators.
