KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: The Criminal Court has postponed the case of former MP Anwar Al-Fikr early until October. The delay is to allow for the summoning of the incident officer involved in the case. Al-Fikr is accused of challenging the authority of His Highness the Amir during an election conference.
Previously, the Criminal Court had denied Al-Fikr's request for release. He faces charges of undermining the authority of His Highness the Amir, insulting the Amir's position, and spreading false information detrimental to the country's prestige and national interests. These allegations stem from his statements made at his electoral headquarters during the National Assembly elections.
Additionally, it is important to note that the Criminal Court had earlier sentenced Al-Fikr to three years in prison with hard labor in a separate state security case.
