KUWAIT CITY, July 24: The Court of Appeals obligated a female Kuwaiti citizen to return the trousseau, jewelry, gifts and half of the dowry to her ex-husband as they got divorced before consummating their marriage, because she underwent gastric sleeve operation without informing him.
The husband’s lawyer, Attorney Youssef Hussein, said that his client married the defendant, but they have not consummated the marriage and the divorce was granted at a later date with the acknowledgment of the defendant and as proven by the announcement of the divorce that the marriage was for a dowry.
The plaintiff asked his ex-wife to return half of the dowry and gold jewelry. The court ruled that the woman should return the gifts and half of the dowry, considering the marriage was unconsummated and as per the opinion of the expert in this field
