Court of Cassation upholds 10 years and 7 years jail term for exam leak and money laundering

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7: The Court of Cassation, led by Counselor Sultan Borsali, has upheld the rulings of the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal regarding a significant case involving the leaking of high school exams. The court sentenced a male citizen to 10 years and a female citizen to 7 years in prison for their roles in the leak and associated money laundering activities conducted through Instagram and an advertising company.

In addition, an expatriate and another male citizen received sentences of 6 months in prison. Meanwhile, 7 other defendants were acquitted of the charges against them.

In the initial ruling by the Criminal Court, the male and female citizens were sentenced to hard labor for 10 and 7 years, respectively. The expatriate and the male citizen were each sentenced to one year of hard labor, with the expatriate facing deportation after completing the sentence.

The Public Prosecution had previously ordered the defendants' detention for 21 days, referring them to the central prison. They were charged with money laundering, having allegedly obtained funds through illegal means.
