Consumer Union warns cooperatives, stores against storing water cartons in sunlight
Cooperatives, stores told to avoid sunlight exposure for water cartons.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: The Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies has warned cooperative stores against storing cartons of water under direct sunlight, citing risks to product quality and consumer safety.

In a letter sent to cooperative societies, Union President Maryam Al-Awad highlighted that some cooperatives were improperly storing certain food and consumer goods, particularly cartons of bottled water, exposing them to sunlight. She noted that such exposure could cause chemical reactions that compromise packaging quality.

The Union urged cooperative management to ensure proper storage practices, emphasizing that maintaining product quality is essential for safeguarding public health. Maryam Al-Awad stressed that adherence to these standards supports the associations’ national role and helps maintain consumer trust in cooperative services.
