LOS ANGELES, July 20: During Coldplay’s concert on Saturday night at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, frontman Chris Martin playfully warned fans to get “camera-ready,” referencing the recent kiss-cam controversy that made headlines.
Martin’s cheeky remark came just days after a widely shared video showed millionaire CEO Andy Byron and his HR executive Kristin Cabot awkwardly avoiding the kiss-cam while caught cuddling at Coldplay’s Boston show on Wednesday at Gillette Stadium.
“We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd. How are we gonna do that? We’re gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen,” Martin told the crowd, according to videos posted on social media. “So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
The moment sparked laughter among the audience, as Martin quipped, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy,” alluding to Byron and Cabot’s attempt to dodge the camera.
Byron, 50, and Cabot, 52, were caught on the jumbotron sharing an intimate moment before quickly shielding themselves from the view of the 55,000-strong crowd. The video rapidly went viral, exposing what appeared to be an office romance.
By Thursday, the pair was publicly identified as executives of a prominent tech company, Astronomer. Following the exposure, both Byron and Cabot were placed on leave as the company launched an internal investigation.
On Friday, company co-founder Pete DeJoy was named interim CEO amid the ongoing fallout. By Saturday, reports confirmed that Byron had resigned from his position.
Byron, whose estimated net worth ranges between $50 million and $70 million, reportedly earned an annual salary between $469,000 and $690,000, supplemented by performance-based bonuses. The future of Cabot with the AI-driven data company remains uncertain.
