Un-vaccinated 91.1% of COVID dead

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5, (Agencies): Some 91.1 per cent of the people who died from COVID-19 in July were not vaccinated, Kuwait Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said on Wednesday. The remaining four per cent received one dose, while 4.9 per cent received two doses, added the official. The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign is ongoing at 101 centers, he said, mentioning that daily appointments have reached 100,000. The tangible results of global vaccination campaigns call for optimism, said Dr. Al-Sanad. This is demonstrated in the reductions to fatality rates and intensive care admissions. The main path to ending the pandemic’s repercussions has become determined by vaccine turnout and maintaining adherence to health measures, he underlined.

Decline
Despite the announcement made by Ministry of Health regarding the decline in the indicators of the epidemiological situation in Kuwait in terms of rates of new COVID-19 infections and bed occupancy in the intensive care units, Washington news agencies have reported that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a warning to its citizens against traveling to Kuwait, regarding it as a “high-risk” country, reports Al-Seyassah daily. On the other hand, the official spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said, “The recent period witnessed a decline in the indicators of the epidemiological situation in terms of the rates of new COVID-19 cases and the cases requiring intensive care treatment. The rate of decline in new COVID- 19 cases is about 28.3 percent compared to last week. The decline in active cases is about 25.5 percent. It is about 18.4 percent in the COVID-19 wards, while 8.4 percent in the intensive care units.

The ratio of infection case and swab tests carried out is 2.23 percent”. Dr. Al-Sanad expressed his hope that the decline will continue in the next stage, coinciding with the increase in the pace of vaccination for both citizens and residents through the national vaccination campaign in its various branches and centers in all governorates. In the weekly update of the map issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its assessment of the epidemiological levels of the spread of the COVID-19 virus around the world, Kuwait was placed in the fourth level. This indicates that the risk of spread and impact of the COVID-19 virus is very high. Because of this, the center advised American citizens not to travel to Kuwait as well as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, Iraq, Somalia, Tunisia and Libya.

Risk
The CDC assessment has four levels, with the fourth level representing the highest risk and the first level representing the lowest. In its comprehensive guidelines, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended people who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to not travel to destinations that are considered “extremely high risk” areas where more than 500 cases per 100,000 residents are recorded in the past 28 days. According to the CDC, the fourth-level classification means that people should avoid traveling to these destinations.

In the event that it is necessary to travel to these destinations, full vaccination must be received before traveling. Kuwait’s Health Ministry declared on Thursday recording 718 new COVID-19 cases in addition to five deaths caused by the deadly virus past 24 hours. MoH official spokesperson Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad said in statement to KUNA the caseload of contamination cases rose to 401,697 and the mortality toll settled at 2,356.
