Buzz of flies from officials in Tehran

FOR a long time, I contemplated the Iranian officials’ statements and their reaction at the summit of the ten Gulf, Arab and American countries in the Saudi city of Jeddah, and the repetition of the same phrases and threats that they have been issuing throughout their 43 years of control.

Before anything else, all that the Mullahs must do is look at the living and economic reality that Iranians are enduring in order to realize that  this verbal slur is nothing more than bubbles and the buzzing of flies. It falls within the vocal phenomenon that we are accustomed to from Iran.

Undoubtedly, there are many ways Tehran can choose to exit from its international and regional isolation, and that is after having a leadership capable of perceiving international changes, and realizing that wars have not yielded anything positive either in the past or in the present.

The greatest example of this is the war that Khomeini sanctioned with Iraq, which lasted for eight years, during which the two countries lost about four million people between dead and wounded, and endured direct losses amounting to $600 billion.

In the end, Khomeini was forced to accept the decision for a ceasefire, and he then said his famous words, “Woe be onto me because I am still alive to drink the cup of poison by agreeing to the ceasefire agreement.”

There is another way for Tehran to avoid drinking poison again, especially after the great deterioration of the economic situation, the terrible collapse of the local currency exchange rate, and the rise in the poverty rate to more than 80 percent, as well as the great weakness in the capabilities of the Revolutionary Guards and the Basij armed forces as a result of the series of internal and external strikes directed at them, and the increase in popular resentment.

Therefore, we ask – As long as this regime claims to be Islamic, isn’t good neighborliness and cooperation among human beings one of the principles of Islam? Isn’t development and human well-being among the purposes of Sharia? Why aren’t the leaders of Tehran asking themselves these questions?

Perhaps only the wise usually proceed in their policy based on these correct Islamic principles, but the leaders of obscurantism who still live in the caves of the Middle Ages continue to believe that defiance and bloodshed is the way to extend their control over the region. That is why they imagine that their mere possession of nuclear weapons is enough to impose their scheme, and the world will surrender to them.

These people are wrong, because they should first look at North Korea, which persisted in stubbornness and defiance of the world, and continued to produce weapons of mass destruction. By that, it has not achieved anything because the international response was simple – blockade and isolation. This response increased the poverty and misery of its people and spread famine, which is similar to the suffering of the Iranian people.

However, if these people are betting on sectarian strife and stirring up sectarian division, then there is no doubt that they are plowing in water, and they have nothing but to look at the situation in Iraq where the people rose up against Tehran’s henchmen and prevented them from manipulating the results of the last elections.

Similar is the way Lebanon began to turn against the Hezbollah that dominated all the joints of the state after it caused the biggest collapse in the history of that country.

They must exit the tunnel of defiance, abandon militias and criminal gangs in Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq and Syria, not interfere in the internal affairs of the Caspian Sea countries, and stop the aggressive policy against Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait in order to get out of the cocoon of slow death in which Iran has locked itself.

The question that begs to be answered is: Will Iran turn to the peaceful path, which is the best step for it, or will it continue its aggression?
