Sulibikhat players arrive at Kuwait Airport before their departure.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: As part of its preparations for the new volleyball season, which starts on the 26th of this month, Burgan Club has secured the signing of national team star and former Kazma player Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa.

The team, led by Argentine coach Alejandro Grossi, is currently in Bosnia for a training camp where it is also scouting professional players for the upcoming season. The squad is set to return tomorrow.

Al-Mutawa’s arrival is considered a major boost for Burgan, which is determined to compete for trophies this year after reaching the league final last season in a historic achievement. The talented attacker, who came through Kazma’s youth system and spent several seasons with the senior team, ended his contract with the “Orange” by mutual agreement. His signing comes as Burgan looks to fill the void left by the departure of Youssef Mandil to Al-Arabi and the suspension of Abdullah Al-Mulla.

Meanwhile, the Sulibikhat traveled to Cairo for a two-week training camp as part of its pre-season program. The camp will feature friendly matches against Zamalek, Sporting, and several other clubs from the Egyptian Premier League. The squad is due back on the 23rd of this month.

The traveling roster includes: Nawaf Al-Dhafiri, Fawaz Al-Salili, Saqr Al-Obaid, Mohammed Dashti, Ali Al-Salili, Nawaf Saadoun, Saad Al-Enezi, Ahmed Al-Taweel, Hamoud Al-Rubaie, Sayed Behbehani, Ibrahim Al-Buthali, Ali Al-Naama, and Rasmi Al-Rashidi, along with foreign professionals David from Bulgaria and Ibrahim Abdulhamid from Ghana.

Head coach Ahmed Rifaat emphasized that the camp is part of the club’s long-term strategy to develop and improve the sport, adding that the presence of two professional players will significantly strengthen the first team.

In addition, Sulibikhat has appointed Egyptian coach Tamer Zoghly to lead the U-10 and U-12 youth categories as part of its focus on nurturing young talent.
