Participants of the 'Medical Error Cases' workshop.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: The Medical Liability Authority, in collaboration with the British General Medical Council, organized a three-day workshop focused on "Medical Error Cases." The workshop, led by Judge Leslie Cuthbert, an expert in medical error cases, aimed to enhance and develop health control standards in Kuwait.

The event facilitated the exchange of legal and medical experiences between the UK and Kuwait, particularly in investigating medical errors. Topics covered included case analysis, improving investigation procedures, preventing bias, and fostering dialogue between legal experts and doctors in Kuwait's Medical Liability Authority and the British General Medical Council. Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the head of the agency, emphasized the workshop's significance in promoting bilateral understanding and cooperation.

Judge Cuthbert shared insights into prominent UK cases, highlighting challenges and key focus areas for investigations. The British Medical Council, established in 1858, is a renowned global medical regulatory body, overseeing licenses, medical education, and complaints against medical professionals. The Medical Liability Authority in Kuwait provides technical opinions on medical error-related issues, playing a vital role in addressing professional violations in the healthcare sector.
