KUWAIT CITY, July 21: Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of the Public Relations Department at the General Fire Force, emphasized that the architectural requirements and specifications for investment and commercial residential buildings do not fall under the Fire Force’s jurisdiction. Instead, their focus is on ensuring safety requirements such as the width of corridors and stairs, emergency exits, and fire extinguishing systems.
In an interview with a local daily, Brigadier Al-Gharib clarified, “Building violations of all kinds do not fall under the responsibility of the fire department. The responsibility for addressing these violations lies with other authorities, with whom we cooperate closely.”
Brigadier Al-Gharib highlighted several common violations in buildings, including unauthorized construction on the ground floor or roof, blocking emergency and suspended doors, and obstructing escape routes and stairways. Additionally, he noted issues with basements being used for purposes other than their licensed intent.
“There is significant cooperation with all government agencies to remove violations that conflict with safety requirements,” Al-Gharib stated. “We work through joint teams to protect lives and property and achieve community security, especially during this hot weather.”
The General Fire Force continues to collaborate with various government bodies to ensure the safety and security of residential and commercial properties, focusing on compliance with fire safety regulations and the removal of any potential hazards.
