KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by a lower court which sentenced a blogger to two years imprisonment for insulting the Amir following the suspension of some constitutional articles. In the previous session, the execution of the sentence was stayed for three years, with bail set at KD 1,000 for good conduct after his release on bail. The Public Prosecution had charged the defendant with offending the Amir through posts on his “X” account, in which he publicly challenged the Amir’s rights and authority. It had also included derogatory comments about the Amir’s position. He was also charged with intentional insult using a communication device (a mobile phone), by publishing the offending phrases and words on his account.
