KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: The Criminal Court postponed until Feb 8, 2016 the hearing on a case involving Twitter user Sarah Al-Derees who is accused of posting comments deemed offensive to Islam on her Twitter account. Previously, the Public Prosecution issued an arrest warrant against her. According to sources, she participated in a Twitter discussion about one of the Prophet’s (PBUH) wives.

During the discussion, she criticized an incident mentioned in some history books which, in her viewpoint, is used by DAESH as the basis for committing crimes. Meanwhile, informed sources said there is coordination between the Ministries of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and the State for Youth Affairs to adopt an awareness mechanism to protect young people from falling prey to terrorism and extremist ideas, especially through the exploitation of social media, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The sources revealed there is a tendency to form a men and women committee to activate a document on countering terrorism which was recently approved by Council of Ministers. The task of the committee includes educating young people through lessons given by a number of prominent young preachers on the social networking websites.
