WASHINGTON, Nov 16, (Agencies): Steve Irwin is being fondly remembered by his children, Bindi and Robert, on Steve Irwin Day. The siblings took a moment to pay tribute to their late father, who tragically passed away in 2006 at the age of 44 after a stingray incident while filming a documentary off the coast of Australia.
Honoring Steve Irwin's legacy of wildlife passion and commitment to conservation, the Australia Zoo designated Nov 15 as Steve Irwin Day. Bindi, 25, shared a touching throwback photo on Instagram, depicting her gently resting her head on her father's shoulder. In the caption, she expressed, "To the world, he will be remembered as the greatest Wildlife Warrior. To our family, he will be remembered as our world."
The post received an outpouring of heartwarming messages from fans, with one follower stating, "The world loved him, and the world loves your beautiful family! Thank you for doing what you do every day. He is proud of you - absolutely no doubt about it."
In his tribute, 19-year-old Robert posted a video on Instagram featuring his father discussing his conservation work and expressing a desire to be remembered for his "passion and enthusiasm" in the field. Robert's caption reflected on Steve Irwin Day, describing it as a day to remember their dad, "the greatest Wildlife Warrior on the planet," and acknowledging his enduring impact on future generations.
Wildlife Warriors, the non-profit organization founded by Steve Irwin and his wife Terri in 2002, highlighted the significance of the day, symbolizing Steve's passions for family, fun, and wildlife conservation. The organization encourages people worldwide to unite on this day, raising funds to support Wildlife Warriors in continuing Steve's conservation efforts and preserving wildlife and natural habitats.
