Decent life for people eyed

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: The Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee of the National Assembly has approved a bill to exempt certain categories of people from paying fees imposed by government agencies as part of providing a decent life for people of limited income, reports Al-Anba daily.

The report of the committee was included in the agenda for discussion during Tuesday’s session shows the exempted categories.

They include those retirees registered with Public Institute for Social Security, the social welfare beneficiaries provided by Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the disabled registered at the Public Authority for Disabled.

Article (2) of the proposed law stipulates that the fines should not be exempted from the commission of offenses.

Article 3 stipulates that a card shall be issued to them under the name of ‘exempted’ from fees. The proposal was made because a majority of pensioners, social assistance beneficiaries and disabled with limited incomes depend entirely on monthly pensions or assistance, in the face of high living standards, high prices on the one hand, and the stable amount of pensions for years on the other.
