KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: After waiting for more than five years, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) announced the opening of the bid envelopes submitted for the tender for the construction, completion and maintenance of main road works, main infrastructure service networks and rainwater tanks in the South Sabah Al-Ahmad project, reports Al-Qabas daily. PAHW revealed that the total number of companies that submitted their bids is 14, and the value of the lowest bids amounted to about KD 112.797 million.

According to an informed source, the tender will be awarded after submitting the technical study of the project by the company with the lowest bid, in accordance with the evaluation requirements and criteria stipulated in the tender documents and their technical specifications. On the other hand, PAHW revealed the distribution of 94 percent of the housing units in the South Sabah Al-Ahmad City project. According to a recent statistic, the total number of distributed units was 19,111 out of 20,380 units. The total number of citizens who were allocated units in the project is 6,898 as of December 2020.

The total number of public buildings that are still under construction is 76, including 26 buildings in Mutla City, 16 in East Sabah Al-Ahmad, 31 in South Abdullah Al-Mubarak, and three in West Abdullah Al-Mubarak. It had distributed 22,177 “To Whom It May Concern” certificates to citizens in preparation for the issuance of building orders in three major housing projects – Mutlaa, South Abdullah Al- Mubarak, and Khaitan. Regarding the method of applying for “To Whom It May Concern “certificates, PAHW stated that it happens in an organized and smooth manner through the Sahel app. The plot holders will be able to obtain such certificates, in addition to the plot scheme (service sketch) with the ability to print it, without the need to visit the office. This saves the time and effort of citizens.

Furthermore, PAHW launched a competition of consulting services for detailed design work for the construction and completion of a group of public buildings according to standard models. It stated that the public buildings consist of a general post building, three models of a telephone exchange building, a smart-city control building, a building for the Environment Public Authority, a fire station, a specialized health center building, a health care building, and a sub-market building. PAHW requested that the local offices and consulting houses should meet several conditions, the most important of which is that it should be part of the Kuwaiti architectural contestant team to carry out the work of designing the architectural concept, and that the experience of the office should not be less than ten years.
