KUWAIT CITY, July 29: Security sources have disclosed that the deportation center currently holds around 784 detainees, comprising 334 men, 450 women, and 15 children. The majority of these detainees belong to Asian and Arab communities. Notably, the Ministry of Interior incurs an average daily cost of KD10 per prisoner, covering expenses for meals, drinks, and healthcare. For children, the daily cost is approximately 15 dinars, which includes provisions for milk, toys, and clothing.

The prison administration has taken measures to ensure the inmates' well-being by establishing separate clinics for men and women, as well as a dental clinic.

The Ministry of the Interior is committed to deporting all individuals held in the deportation prison. However, deportation may be delayed due to factors beyond the Ministry's control, such as travel dates and high ticket prices.

Additionally, some deported women face a dilemma as they are reluctant to leave their children behind and insist on traveling with them to their home country, even if they possess valid residence permits in Kuwait, reports Al Rai. In cases where these women are the sole breadwinners in Kuwait, the deportation department makes a humanitarian effort to arrange travel tickets with the assistance of charitable committees or donors, facilitating the deportation of the entire family together. On a daily basis, approximately 150 expatriates are deported, with stringent security measures in place, supported by the women's police.

The deportation prison has a maximum capacity of about 1,200 inmates, with 700 spaces allocated for men and 500 for women. To be received at the facility, a deportee must possess a valid travel ticket, passport, or a travel document issued by their country's embassy
