KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: After the controversy about banning the movie ‘Barbie’ in the country that led to the postponement of its screening until the end of this month, the Ministry of Information decided to review the current version of the movie to determine if it conforms with Kuwaiti values and laws, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources clarified that the ministry has so far not taken a decision on whether to reject or approve the film. Sources said if the original or modified version of the film is approved, the content will be subject to review and censorship; then notes will be taken — if any — to request for further modification. Sources added many international movie production companies usually reject amendments or deletions in their films, so those in charge of censorship tend to ban the showing of such films. Sources reiterated the ministry will never allow the showing of any movie that violates the values and laws of the country.
