Bahraini envoy praises diwaniya as ‘deep-rooted social value’ in Kuwait

Bahrain Embassy diwaniya brings together dignitaries, diplomats, and guests in a celebration of Gulf traditions and the strong bonds between Bahrain and Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain Salah Al-Maliki says the concept of diwaniya in the Kuwaiti society represents a deep-rooted social value, as it is a place for friendly conversation and an opportunity to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and exchange visits. This unique tradition is almost exclusive to the people of the Gulf and is rarely found in the same depth or richness elsewhere in the world. In a press statement during a reception held by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain at its diwaniya recently, Ambassador Al-Maliki expressed his joy at receiving the guests who honored the diwaniya with their presence. He expressed his pride in the diwaniya serving as a meeting space for all, adding, “From time to time, we host our brothers and sisters from the State of Kuwait, including sheikhs, dignitaries, friends, media professionals, and members of the diplomatic corps.”

Ambassador Al-Maliki affirmed that such gatherings reflect the depth of the fraternal ties between Bahrain and Kuwait and highlight the spirit of love and friendship that binds the two peoples. He emphasized that the diwaniya is a symbol of social and human connection, embodying the nature of Kuwaiti society, which is rooted in openness, generosity, and hospitality. Ambassador Al-Maliki noted that Bahraini-Kuwaiti relations are not limited to official ties, but extends to deep-rooted popular, social, and cultural connections. He stressed that these friendly gatherings in the diwaniyas are a natural extension of the mutual understanding, harmony, and shared vision between the leaderships of both countries in pursuit of a brighter future for the region, adding, “The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain is always keen to keep the diwaniya open to everyone. It reflects our commitment to ongoing communication and to strengthening the bonds between our two nations.” Ambassador Al-Maliki affirmed that such occasions help deepen mutual understanding and open broader avenues for cooperation in various sectors.
