AU Hosts Traffic Awareness Event

Kuwait City, Mar 09: Aligned with the Unified Gulf Traffic Week Awareness Campaign for 2024, the Australian University (AU) hosted a traffic awareness lecture titled “Driving Without Distraction.”

The event was held in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, which included Legal – General Muhammad Al Sabhan, Major Engineer Ali Bourabih’, and Major Fahad Al Hayan, along with a big attendance of university students and staff. The lecture addressed several important traffic issues, focusing on the legal aspects of traffic law, including responsibilities regarding vehicles, the behavior of violating drivers, vehicle technicalities, the traffic system, various types of traffic cameras, digital transformation, and statistical data on traffic and vehicle violations, as well as the underlying causes of traffic fatalities.

The event also included various interactive elements such as a knowledge quiz with prizes to participants, a display of multiple traffic vehicles, and the presence of Kuwaiti female police officers to highlight the comprehensive roles and services provided by the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Abdulmohsen Al Refai, Senior Manager of the Health, Safety, and Security Department at AU underscored the significance of organizing awareness events. He emphasized on the importance of organizing awareness events and their role in educating the university community and students to traffic rules, regulations and what causes traffic incidents and on the importance of instilling precautionary concepts to avoid traffic casualties.
