Saud Al Marshoud gear up for the show jumping championship.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: The tenth edition of the “Atyab Al-Marshoud” Show Jumping Championship, an annual event organized by Walid Al-Marshoud, is set to kick off today at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Kuwait Equestrian Center in the Subhan area. The competition will run until Saturday, offering a platform for international riders in this two-star category tournament.

Comprising a total of 9 rounds, the championship includes qualifying rounds leading up to the final of the seventh group. Kuwaiti International Wisdom Nadar Al-Mustafa heads the referees’ committee, which also includes Abdulaziz Al-Mushaiti, Nada Al-Awadi, and Walid Al-Jassem. Sharon Al-Qaoud leads the referees for the Kuwaiti International Arena, with Bahraini referees Muhammad Dadullah and Dr. Yahya Al-Hadban, Ibtisam Al-Arouri, Italian Andrea Colombo, the course designer, and Lebanese international referee Karim Badaro, representing the International Equestrian Federation.

Walid Sulaiman Al-Marshoud, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee and Director of the Tournament, expressed that the championship is an annual endeavor aimed at providing a distinguished competitive atmosphere for both male and female riders.

Today's events will feature runs at heights of 120, 130, and 140 cm, concluding tomorrow at two o’clock in the afternoon with runs of 120, 135, and 140 cm. The spotlight will be on Saturday, commencing at one o’clock in the afternoon, with runs at heights of 125 and 135 cm, culminating in the grand prize event at a height of 145 cm.

Al-Hikma International Kuwaiti Nadar Al-Mustafa, the head of the tournament’s arbitration committee, emphasized the tournament's consistent success over the years and anticipates strong competition in the current edition for the coveted title. She extended her gratitude to the Al-Marshoud family for their unwavering support, which has evolved from organizing local tournaments to now hosting international events with a solid reputation in the region.
