Assault Complaint Backfires As Victim Faces Slander Charges

KUWAIT CITY, July 10: An investigation into an alleged assault case has taken an unexpected turn, with the reported victim now facing charges of insult and slander. Sources said a 25-year-old Kuwaiti citizen filed a complaint at the Maidan Hawally Police Station, claiming he was physically attacked by an unknown individual inside a wellknown shopping mall in Hawally. He submitted a medical report showing bruises and other injuries purportedly sustained during the incident.

The case was referred to the Investigations Department. Authorities were able to identify the suspect through surveillance footage, tracking his vehicle and using his mobile number with assistance from the General Traffic Department. The suspect was contacted and he voluntarily appeared for questioning. During the interrogation, he admitted to the altercation, but claimed he was provoked after the complainant allegedly used offensive and indecent language toward him. As a result, the investigation was expanded to include the complainant, who is now facing legal action for insult and slander.
