KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: MP Saleh Ashour has submitted a draft law to criminalize eulogizing and praying for soul of Saddam Hussein, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The bill seeks to ban people from making statements or pronouncements or any form of encouraging the above mentioned act in line with amendment to some provisions of the Penal Code — citing Article 29 of Law No. 31/1970, which also prohibits publishing, broadcasting or repeating audio-visual documents that could give credence to the act.

It suggests anybody violating the bill should be liable to a maximum of five years jail term with maximum of KD 50,000 fine or minimum of KD 5,000 fine or both punishments, besides shutting down the medium of communication and confiscation of the equipment and other materials used for the crime.
