Armenia seeks Kuwaiti investment as bilateral relations enter new era

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: The Armenian Ambassador to Kuwait Arsen Arakelian says the number of Kuwaiti tourists and residents visiting Armenia is steadily increasing. Speaking at a reception held for investors, business representatives, media, and travel agencies, Ambassador Arakelian affirmed that Armenia will become the top destination for Kuwaitis in 2025. He encouraged everyone to visit Armenia during the winter season to enjoy skiing, festivals, family-friendly activities, and the vibrant restaurant and café scene.

The ambassador highlighted that the Armenian people hold Kuwaitis in high esteem and welcome them with warmth and open hearts. He noted that the travel time from Kuwait to Armenia is less than two hours, making it a convenient and attractive destination for both Kuwaitis and residents. Regarding visa regulations, the ambassador explained that Kuwaiti citizens can enter Armenia without a visa. Residents of Kuwait with a valid residency permit of at least six months, as well as holders of Schengen, U.S., or Gulf visas, are also granted visa-free entry without any fees. Other nationalities are subject to standard visa procedures, either upon arrival at the airport or through Armenian embassies.

The ambassador emphasized the growing mutual interest between Armenia and Kuwait in governmental, institutional, and corporate sectors, adding that joint investment and trade initiatives are being developed, along with increased cooperation on official delegations and visits. He affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in various fields. Regarding the Armenian community in Kuwait, the ambassador stated that its population is estimated at around five thousand people, who enjoy full rights and benefits on par with Kuwaiti citizens.

He highlighted the active role Armenians play in Kuwait’s development process and referred to longstanding requests to allocate land for building a church and a school, which are institutions the Armenian community considers vital for preserving its identity. However, the details of these requests are being handled by the community’s representatives. The ambassador concluded by affirming that the relationship between the Armenian and Kuwaiti peoples is rooted in mutual love and respect. He emphasized that Armenia views Kuwait as an important strategic partner in tourism, investment, and humanitarian relations.
