KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: The Ministry of Public Works revealed to Al-Rai that the neutral technical committee to study the bids submitted by international road maintenance companies has approved “awarding road maintenance in the Hawalli and Jahra governorates to an American company.”

The sources expected that “the tender for the highways for the northern region will also be awarded to the same company, as it provided the lowest prices,” noting that the ministry will address the concerned authorities to obtain their approvals to sign the first three contracts, in preparation for the start of maintenance operations. The sources explained that “road maintenance practices are essentially work order contracts, meaning that the Ministry has the right to assign the work to the American company to carry out any work in other governorates, and that maintenance work is not limited to the Hawalli and Jahra governorates.
