KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: Eng. Jassim Al-Nouri, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Tomooh Sports Club forthe Disabled, has formally requested the reversal of the decision to terminate the club's advertisement. Al-Nouri expressed his dissatisfaction with the sudden and unjust decision, emphasizing that it was made without prior warning. The decision poses a threat to a well-established entity that has been actively supporting 150 male and female players for six years, producing numerous champions and boasting an extensive record of global and regional participations and achievements.
During a press conference organized by the club to address the aftermath of the advertisement cancellation, Al-Nouri clarified that Al-Tomooh Club has consistently adhered to all financial and administrative laws and regulations throughout its career. Additionally, all tournaments in which the club participated received prior approvals from the Sports Authority, with no recorded violations since its establishment.
Al-Nouri highlighted the club's cooperation with the committee formed by the former Minister of Youth, providing all necessary data. Despite this cooperation, the club was neither invited to any meetings nor informed of any violations. The ministerial decision to cancel the advertisement came as a surprise to the club.
Expressing astonishment, Al-Nouri noted that at a time when the aim is to encourage the establishment of more clubs for sports involving individuals with mental disabilities to enhance competition, discover talent, and build a broader base of athletes, the decision undermines the only entity dedicated to this accomplished sport in Kuwait. The club has notably represented Kuwaiti sports with disabilities on a global stage, with its most recent success being the winning of 21 medals in the World Games in Berlin—an achievement recognized and honored by His Highness the Amir.
