KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20: Daij Al- Otaibi, the President of the Kuwaiti Shooting Federation and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Shooting Sport Federation, has announced that Kuwaiti marksman Abdullah Al-Tarqi has secured a position on the Players’ Committee of the International Shooting Sport Federation, specializing in the Trap Shooting discipline.

Al-Otaibi conveyed in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the election of the Olympic champion, Al-Tarqi, to this prestigious role followed virtual meetings of the International Federation. These meetings also saw the selection of Daniel Despino from Italy and Amber English from the United States as fellow members of the same committee. Furthermore, committee members for Pistol and Rifle shooting were elected as well. He underscored that this triumph represents a significant sporting milestone for Kuwaiti shooting and serves as recognition of its pivotal role on the global stage. This recognition stems from the achievements of its athletes in various international and Olympic competitions, as well as its hosting of major international and continental championships.

Al- Otaibi extended his congratulations to Al-Tarqi for taking on this vital international position for current athletes. Al-Tarqi, in a similar statement to KUNA, affirmed his dedication, alongside other committee members, to support shooters affiliated with the International Federation. He pledged to provide them with all the necessary resources to pursue their beloved sport and excel on the international championship platform. This support will be coordinated with the Federation’s Executive Committee. Expressing his pride and honor in representing Kuwait in this committee dedicated to the development of Trap Shooting athletes, Al-Tarqi also expressed gratitude for the Kuwaiti Federation’s backing during these elections.
