KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: The fourth round of the Zain Premier League wraps up with two matches. First, Al-Fahaheel will visit Al-Arabi at 6:26 pm. at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium. The second match features Al-Qadsiya hosting Al-Salmiya at 8:35 pm. at Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Al-Qadsiya’s performance in Hawalli, as it makes its debut under new Montenegrin coach Zeljko Petrovic. Petrovic took over from Mohammed Al-Mishaan, who resigned following a 1-2 defeat to Al-Arabi in the previous round. Al-Qadsiya, currently with 3 points, seeks its second win after a narrow victory over Al-Yarmouk. Petrovic is aware of the match's significance and the need to boost player confidence ahead of its next challenging fixture against Kazma later this week.
On the other side, Al-Salmiya, with 6 points, aims to capitalize on Al-Qadsiya’s current struggles to secure its third win. Al-Salmiya defeated Al-Nasr and Al-Tadamon but lost to Kazma. In the first match, Al-Arabi is pursuing its fourth win to maintain its strong performance, having already defeated Kazma, Al-Tadamon, and won the "derby."
Al-Fahaheel, also with 6 points, hopes for a positive outcome to stay among the top teams. It started the season with a 4-1 win over Khaitan but faced a setback with a 3-0 loss to Kuwait Club, before bouncing back with a 4-2 victory over Al-Yarmouk. In other news, the third-round match between Khaitan and Yarmouk ended in a 1-1 draw at Nasser Al-Osaimi Stadium. Khaitan now has 4 points, while Yarmouk has 2.
Meanwhile, the Asian Football Confederation has denied Kuwait Club’s request to postpone its match against Uzbekistan’s Nasaf, scheduled for next Wednesday in the first round of Group 4 of the AFC Champions League 2. The group also includes Jordan’s Al-Hussein Irbid and the UAE’s Shabab Al-Ahli.
