BUDAPEST, Oct 7: World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam described the laying of the foundation stone for the federation’s new headquarters in Budapest as a historic milestone and a launchpad toward a brighter and more innovative future for the organization.

Al-Musallam extended his greetings to Mr. Gergely Gulyás, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Ádám Schmidt, Minister of Youth and Sports, and to all athletes affiliated with World Aquatics.

“This day marks a defining moment in the history of World Aquatics,” he said. “The new headquarters symbolizes a fresh beginning and a commitment to innovation, excellence, and global collaboration.”

He emphasized that the new facility will not only serve as an administrative center but also as a world-class training hub designed to nurture aquatic athletes from all continents and provide an ideal environment for growth and performance.

The modern complex will house up to 125 World Aquatics staff members and offer residential facilities for around 200 athletes, featuring state-of-the-art training and support infrastructure.

Al-Musallam highlighted that the project reflects a deepening partnership with Hungary, aimed at leveraging the country’s expertise in sports medicine, performance science, and athlete development.

He added, “We will also expand our collaboration with Hungary’s leading universities to promote scientific research and innovation, further strengthening the pursuit of sporting excellence worldwide.”
