Al-Kharafi dominates Atyab Al-Marshoud Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: Kuwait Equestrian Club rider, Ali Jassim Al-Kharafi, triumphed in the tenth edition of the “Atyab Al-Marshoud” International Show Jumping Championship, an annual event hosted by Walid Al-Marshoud at the Kuwait Equestrian Center in Subhan. Al-Kharafi clinched the title in the ninth and final round, “the Grand Prize,” clearing obstacles at a height of 145 cm. His impeccable round, completed in 37.81 seconds without penalties, secured the victory and earned him the prestigious car prize.Leading the pack, Al-Kharafi outpaced riders such as Fawaz Al-Rashed, Italian Antonio Moroso, Fawaz Al-Subaie, Anaz Al-Anaz, Ghazi Al-Jariwi, Madi Al-Khamis, Abdullah Al-Awadhi, and Abdullah Al-Roudhan.

The awards ceremony, graced by the presence of the Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and the Minister of State for Communications Affairs, featured the crowning of champions by key figures including Daoud Marafi, the tournament’s sponsor Walid Sulaiman Al-Marshoud, Masoud Johar Hayat (President of the Kuwait Equestrian Federation), and representatives from sponsoring companies.

Al-Kharafi’s stellar performance extended beyond the final round; he secured first place in the fifth round at 135 cm, the third round at 140 cm, and the second half at 130 cm. Meanwhile, jockey Hussein Al-Kharafi claimed the top spot in the first half at 120 cm, and Muhammad Al-Ajeel took the lead in the fourth round at the same height. Ghazi Al-Jariwi dominated the sixth heat at 140 cm, and British rider Nick Channing Williams excelled in the seventh heat at 125 cm. Abrar Al-Musallam, a female equestrian, claimed the first-place position in the eighth heat at a height of 135 cm.

Expressing his admiration for Al-Kharafi’s achievements, Walid Al-Marshoud, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, remarked, “Ali Al-Kharafi is a world champion who consistently elevates Kuwait’s standing in both local and international competitions. The Al-Marshoud Championship looks forward to many successful years ahead.”
