Al-Hilal players celebrate after defeating Al-Ahli 4-1 in a shootout to advance to the Saudi Super Cup final.

RIYADH, Aug 14: Al-Hilal continued to dominate Al-Ahly Jeddah, extending their winning streak in the Saudi Super Cup semifinals. Al-Hilal secured their spot in the final by defeating Al-Ahli 4-1 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Al-Ahli has been unable to break its losing streak against Al-Hilal, which now spans 1,454 days. The team has failed to secure a win against Al-Zaim in its last six encounters, including this recent match. The previous time Al-Ahli triumphed over Al-Hilal was on August 20, 2020, in the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Cup League, where it won 2-1. Since then, Al-Hilal has won five matches and drawn one against Al-Ahli.

Following that defeat, Al-Hilal achieved its most significant victory against Al-Ahli with a 5-1 win in the 28th round of the 2020-2021 Prince Mohammed bin Salman Cup League. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in October 2021 during the 10th round of the 2021-2022 league.

After that draw, Al-Hilal secured three consecutive wins against Al-Ahli: a 4-2 victory in the 25th round of the 2021-2022 Saudi League, a 3-1 win in the 11th round of the 2023-2024 season, and a 2-1 victory in the 28th round of last season’s Saudi League.
