Al-Arabi gears up for AFC playoff with second friendly against Baniyas in UAE

DUBAI, Aug 5: Al-Arabi Club is set to play its second friendly match of the Abu Dhabi training camp this evening at 6:30 p.m. against Baniyas of the United Arab Emirates.

Al-Arabi opened its friendly with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Hatta. The team will wrap up its camp with a final game tomorrow against Al-Wahda before heading to the Maldives on Friday to face Maziya Sports Club on August 12 in the AFC Challenge Cup playoff.

Head coach Marco Alves of Portugal is using the friendly fixtures to evaluate all players and finalize his squad selection ahead of the crucial continental clash.

Kuwait Club will wrap up local preparations today before departing tomorrow for a training camp in Prague, Czech Republic, running through August 28. The camp will include four friendly matches as the team prepares to defend its domestic titles.

Led by Montenegrin coach Nebojsa Jovovic, Kuwait Club is gearing up for the 2025–2026 season, which kicks off on September 12 with a Zain Premier League opener against Al-Tadamon. The team also aims to retain the Crown Prince Cup and Super Cup.

Nebojsa has named a 26-man squad for the Prague camp, featuring key local players alongside notable international signings:

Local players: Sami Al-Sanea, Mishari Ghanam, Fahad Hamoud, Fahad Al-Hajri, Reda Hani, Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, Ali Hussein, Yousef Al-Khubayzi, Ibrahim Kamil, Abdulrahman Kamil, Faisal Zayed, Amr Abdel Fattah, Mohammed Daham, Mohammed Fareeh, Ahmed Alaa, Yousef Nasser, Ahmed Al-Zanki, Saud Al-Houshan, Dhari Al-Otaibi, Khaled Al-Rashidi, and Hamoud Al-Sanousi.

Foreign players: Henock Baka (Congo), Mohamed Marhoon (Bahrain), Arsen "Malik" Zola (Congo), Yassine Khenissi (Tunisia), and Sam Morsy (England).

Al-Tadamon officially began preseason training under new Portuguese head coach Miguel Leal, as the team prepares for its league opener against Kuwait SC on September 12.

The Farwaniya club has bolstered its squad with four foreign signings: French duo Jonathan Bamba and Zakaria Slimani, Portuguese midfielder Pedro, and Syrian attacker Ahmad Al-Dali.

Additionally, Al-Tadamon secured several local reinforcements, including Abdulmohsen Al-Ajmi, Salman Al-Ajmi, Turki Al-Mutairi, and Ali Fadhel.
