KUWAIT CITY, Jan 20: Al-Arabi Club has bolstered its squad with the addition of Algerian player Abu Bakr.The club finalized the contract for foreign players by securing the signing of Algerian defender Imad El-Din Abu Bakr, who arrives from the Egyptian Arab Contractors Club. Abu Bakr is set to become the fifth international player for Al-Arabi, joining Nigerian Anayo Iweala, Moroccans Hamza Khaba and Walid Sabbar, and Tunisian Ayman Sfaxien.Abu Bakr steps in to replace Algerian Sofiane Bouchard, who has been loaned to an Algerian club. The termination of the contract of Senegalese Mamadou Thiam was a decision made by the Al-Arabi technical staff, led by Bosnian coach Darko Nestorovic, citing concerns about Thiam's performance.
With a wealth of experience, 28-year-old Abu Bakr has played for various clubs in Algeria, Egypt, and Morocco, including Olympique Medea and Chabab Al-Saoura in Algeria, as well as the Moroccan Wydad Club. He has also represented the Egyptian clubs of Port Said and the Arab Contractors Club. Abu Bakr is expected to join Al-Arabi's training sessions today, gearing up for his involvement in the team's upcoming competitions for the remainder of the current season.
In a related update, Al-Arabi's international players are set to resume training today after completing their commitments with the national team. Meanwhile, the return of players who joined the Olympic team camp in Bangkok is eagerly awaited by Al-Arabi. The team is preparing for a clash against Sulaibikhat on January 26 in the preliminary round of the Amir Cup competition.
