JEDDAH, Nov 9: Riyad Mahrez scored the decisive goal as Al-Ahli defeated Al-Ittihad in the Jeddah Derby during the eighth round of the Saudi Pro League (Roshn League), extending the reigning champions’ recent struggles. The win moved Al-Ahli to 16 points in fifth place, while Al-Ittihad, winless in their last five league matches, remained on 11 points in eighth place.
Elsewhere, Al-Nassr continued their perfect run in the league by beating newly promoted NEOM 3-1, keeping their top spot with a flawless record after eight rounds. In another fixture, Dutch forward Georginio Wijnaldum rescued Al-Ittifaq with a late penalty to secure a 1-1 draw against Al-Shabab, after the home side had opened the scoring through Abdulaziz Al-Othman.After the round, Al-Ittifaq sits in 11th place with 9 points, while Al-Shabab is 13th with 7 points.
