KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: Kuwait International Airport witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of passengers two days ago, because the midterm holiday for public schools has started prompting the concerned authorities to raise the level of preparation by taking the necessary steps to forestall congestion in order to enable passengers to complete travel procedures easily and quickly, reports Al-Qabas daily. Deputy Director General of the Air Safety and Air Transport Department at the airport Eng Emad Al-Jalwa disclosed they scheduled 20 extra flights, indicating a total of 546 arriving and departing flights operated in the past two days. He said the department held a meeting with relevant authorities in the airport, during which an agreement was reached to increase the number of staff in charge of arrival and departure procedures. He affirmed this step was necessary to better serve the passengers. He revealed that flights on the first day of the holiday went on smoothly without hindrances. He affirmed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation staff worked hard in coordination with other authorities like the Ministry of Interior, General Customs Department and airlines for the situation to remain under control.
