RIYADH, Oct 16: Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and First Vice President of FIFA, highlighted that the AFC’s Dream Asia initiative has become a pioneering model for promoting positive societal impact.
He spoke at the opening of the 2025 Dream Asia Foundation Conference in Riyadh, held in partnership with the United Nations’ “Football for Goals” initiative, and attended by representatives from the UN, UEFA, FIFA, and other international organizations.
Sheikh Salman said, “Dream Asia has become a leading example of how football can be used as a tool for positive social change. Through collaboration with member associations and international partners, AFC programs have touched the lives of thousands across Asia.”
He added, “From its inception, Dream Asia has promoted the idea that football is more than just a game—it is a powerful platform to unite communities, build societies, and foster values of respect, equality, and tolerance. The AFC’s mission goes beyond competitions, aiming to serve humanity and create a brighter future for people across our continent.”
Over the past eight years, Sheikh Salman noted, Dream Asia has made significant strides in social responsibility by implementing developmental and humanitarian programs across most national and regional member associations. “We have witnessed the tangible impact of these initiatives in supporting children and youth, empowering women, and enhancing inclusivity in football,” he said.
