Kuwait to swelter under dust, heat through Wednesday

KUWAIT CITY, June 22: The Meteorological Department announced on Sunday that Kuwait will be affected by an extension of a surface air depression combined with a hot, dry air mass, bringing active winds and dust storms starting Monday. Director Dhirar Al-Ali told KUNA that northwesterly winds will be moderate to brisk, reaching speeds of 20 to 65 kilometers per hour, reducing horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some areas on Tuesday and Wednesday. He added that temperatures will soar between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius during the day, with nighttime lows ranging from 32 to 35 degrees Celsius. Sea conditions are expected to be rough, with wave heights between 3 and 7 feet, accompanied by hot weather and strong winds continuing into Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Residents are advised to take precautions against heat and dust as the weather system impacts the region. (KUNA)
