KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Despite the ongoing partial curfew to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, its hours seem to diminish little by little as exit exemptions increase, rendering the actual curfew hours to be less than ten hours as per the Cabinet’s decision, which had set it from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, reports Al-Rai daily.

The following are the curfew exemptions:
1. The period between 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm designated for walking within the respective area only.
2. Permission to go to mosques in the middle of the night to perform Qiyam prayers.
3. Permission to go to Hussainiyat from 10:00pm to 1:00 am.
4. Permission to go to mosques to perform Fajr prayer at around 3:40 am.

Amid the multiplicity of exceptions, the question arises as to what remains of the hours of the curfew, and what the benefits are in reducing the number of people infected with the COVID-19 virus. A question that needs to be asked is – Isn’t it better to cancel the curfew?
