A new chapter: Demi Lovato weds fiancé Jutes in romantic California ceremony
Demi Lovato marries Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes in romantic California ceremony.

LOS ANGELES, May 27: Singer Demi Lovato and her fiancé, Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, officially tied the knot on Sunday during a romantic wedding ceremony in California.

The 32-year-old pop star looked stunning as she walked down the aisle in a Vivienne Westwood gown, a day after the couple held a rehearsal with their wedding party. The ceremony took place around 4 p.m., according to Vogue, which reported that Lovato and Lutes are now officially husband and wife.

Lovato wore the same designer for both the ceremony and reception. Her bridal gown featured a structured corset bodice and was crafted from silk satin, paired with a sheer white veil that extended into a graceful train. Her makeup included a subtle eye shadow, mascara, a soft blush on her cheeks, and a nude lip color.

"I’ve been a fan of Vivienne Westwood’s designs for a long time," Lovato told Vogue. "When I was thinking about what dress style I wanted, I often found myself coming back to Vivienne’s designs — specifically how the silhouettes really compliment the curves in your body, and her use of corsets." The fashion house even sent a team from London to Los Angeles to assist with the final fittings.

Later in the evening, Lovato changed into another Westwood creation: an ivory strapless reception gown featuring a corset-style bodice and intricate hand-draped pearl detailing. "There was so much attention to detail on the reception dress beading," she said. "Each strand was draped and attached by hand, one by one. It's a one-of-a-kind piece that makes me feel so special."

Saturday’s rehearsal gave the couple and their guests a chance to finalize the procession, seating, and any special readings. Renowned party planner Mindy Weiss was seen coordinating the logistics and guiding guests. The evening concluded with a cozy dinner at a small restaurant with close friends, family, and the couple’s three beloved dogs, according to DailyMail.com.

Earlier this month, TMZ had reported that the couple would wed over Memorial Day weekend. The ceremony marks Lovato’s second engagement, following a brief 2020 engagement to actor Max Ehrich. That relationship ended after six months, shortly after their July engagement that year.

Reflecting on that period in a 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lovato said, “I really had myself fooled, because it was the safe and expected thing. Obviously, I cared deeply about the person, but there was something inside of me that was like, ‘I have to prove to the world that I’m okay.’” She added that she didn’t need “an object on my finger” to feel whole, saying, “It looks like stability, but it doesn’t mean that it is.”

Lovato and Ehrich met in March 2020, began quarantining together, and ended their relationship that September. In the years following, Lovato came out as non-binary and began using they/them pronouns, later also re-adopting she/her pronouns. “I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting,” she told GQ Hype Spain. “I just got tired. But for that very reason I know that it is important to continue spreading the word.”

Lovato met Jutes in January 2022. The Canadian musician, who previously collaborated with Lovato on tracks like “Substance,” “Happy Ending,” and “City of Angels,” proposed in December 2023. He designed the custom pear-shaped diamond engagement ring with Teresa Panico of New York-based jeweler Material Good.

Upon announcing her engagement, Lovato wrote: “I’m still speechless! Last night was the best night of my life, and I can’t believe I get to marry the love of my life @jutesmusic. My love, I’m beyond excited to marry you. Every day I’ve spent with you has been a dream come true,e and I can’t wait to love and cherish you forever. Here’s to the rest of our lives. I love you, baby!”

Lovato, who previously dated celebrities including Trace Cyrus, Joe Jonas, Wilmer Valderrama, Mike Johnson, and Guilherme Vasconcelos, told People last year that she had “waited [her] whole life” for someone like Jutes.

“It’s very grounding to have a partner that is so supportive, so loving, so caring,” she said. “It’s very easy to stay centered with him because I love him so much, and he treats me so amazing.”

Lovato recently celebrated her bachelorette party in Las Vegas with close friends, which included attending the Electric Daisy Carnival.
